Sexual Harassment and Sexual Exploitation

You have the right to be free from sexual harassment and sexual exploitation at work. Your safety, dignity, and personal boundaries must be respected in all workplaces, regardless of your immigration status or jobtype.

Sexual harassment can take many forms. It is unlawful for your employer, supervisor, or coworker to:

  • Make unwanted sexual comments or jokes
  • Pressure you into romantic or sexual interactions
  • Use your gender or appearance to insult, intimidate, or control you
  • Create a hostile or unsafe work environment through inappropriate behavior

It is illegal for your employer or anyone in power at work to:

  • Demand or expect any sex act from you in exchange for work, housing, or other basic needs
  • Touch you in a sexual way without your clear and willing consent
  • Force, trick, manipulate, or pressure you into performing sex acts
